  • Share Hello, I'm curious if the upcoming proposal to ban level 2 and 3 e bikes will also apply to the Thompson Creek Trail and the parks. I live by Higginbotham and I'm concerned about the jumps and track that has been built. I'm see kids on Suron bikes blazing through at very high speeds and someone is going to get hurt. In addition, these kids have no regard for the park grass and don't realize that doing donuts at high speeds scars the grass that the neighborhood enjoys. We need someone to step in please. on Facebook Share Hello, I'm curious if the upcoming proposal to ban level 2 and 3 e bikes will also apply to the Thompson Creek Trail and the parks. The E-bike regulations apply to the Thompson Creek trail as well as the CHWP and parks. Our park rangers are working on removing the jumps and tracks. Suron bikes are illegal on all trails and roads in Claremont. They are considered a dirt bike and must be registered as such. You also must have a drivers license and they are not street legal.

The Police Department will be enforcing the ban on Surons and anyone riding one on City streets is subject to having the bike impounded.

  • Share What is the mechanism in place for city to educate the residents that petrol powered leaf-blowers are highly polluting and the city prohibits the use and more importantly, how does the city monitor and enforce this rule? We have been residents of Claremont now for over 2 years in the west village area, and majority of neighbors hire gardeners with petrol powered equipment. The fumes, the overall pollution and noise pollution is really unacceptable. I have seen city's guidance on this as a new resident; however, with no continued education and enforcement, there is no reason that the existing behavior will change. With AQI being what it is in Claremont (some of the worst air quality in the country), the air pollution is silently affecting respiratory illnesses, causes cancer, shortens life expectancy and affects development of children. No amount of trees in the city of trees will save us if we continue mindless pollution of our air. This is a preventable issue and I hope that the city is looking at this issue seriously. on Facebook Share What is the mechanism in place for city to educate the residents that petrol powered leaf-blowers are highly polluting and the city prohibits the use and more importantly, how does the city monitor and enforce this rule? The City prohibits gas powered leaf blowers and may issue a citation to anyone using a gas-powered leaf blower. The City publicizes the ban periodically. When a resident reports the use of gas-powered leaf blowers, a code enforcement officer will contact the homeowner or landscaper to issue a citation. All gardeners and landscapers are given information on the ban when they are issued their business license in the City.

If you see someone using a gas powered blower, call the City immediately. The code enforcement officers must see the violation in order to issue a citation. If it happens a regular day/time, let the officer know so they may schedule a field visit to observe the violation. Code enforcement may be reached at (909) 399-5499.
